Course Description: Discover how to better serve students in a more positive way, to de-escalate anger, and foster a more constructive relationship with the student.

Course Hours: Members who complete this course receive 2 HOURS of Act 48 and/or a certificate that may apply for Chapter 14 hours. Your employer has sole discretion to determine if this course qualifies for Chapter 14 hours.

Gina Gullo

Dr. Gina L. Gullo is an Assistant Director for Education Services at the Pennsylvania State Education Association specializing in educational policy and equity with additional focuses on elementary instruction and STEAM. Leading author of Implicit Bias in Schools: A Practitioner’s Guide, Gina earned her doctorate in Educational Leadership and masters in Special Education from Lehigh University; completed masters level work in Behavioral Neuroscience at Rutgers University, and earned her bachelors in Psychology from the College of New Jersey. She is a certified elementary and special education teacher in Pennsylvania with experience substituting at all levels and working in Autistic Support. Gina serves part-time as clinical faculty member of Educational Leadership, Management, and Policy at Seton Hall University and pursues research focused on educational equity including disproportionalities and how educators work to avoid the impacts of implicit bias and other forms of unintentional discrimination in their schools and communities. Gina is a mother of two boys and lives in the Harrisburg Area. You might recognize Gina from a Halloween episode of Food Network's CHOPPED or as a form Easton Baconator. 

Gina Gullo can support the overall PEARL system with assistance for both learners and administrators. Her courses in PEARL mainly focus on the educator evaluation system, implicit bias, and understanding and supporting students. You can contact Gina at GGullo@PSEA.org.
